Communities We Serve

Third Ward Family Empowerment Nights & PTO Leaders Fellowship (2023 - Present)
TPTC leads ongoing family engagement and leadership initiatives in Houston’s Third Ward designed to strengthen the capacity of parents and caregivers to actively support their children’s schools and communities.
Through monthly Family Empowerment Nights at Cuney Homes, families engage in interactive learning experiences that connect them to school resources, community partners, and leadership development opportunities. These gatherings create space for relationship-building, information-sharing, and collective problem-solving focused on improving educational outcomes and overall family well-being.
Building on this foundation, TPTC provides targeted Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) support at partner campuses, including Blackshear Elementary. This work focuses on strengthening PTO structures, developing parent leadership, increasing membership engagement, and expanding school-community partnerships that benefit students and families.
TPTC also implements a Parent Internship Program that creates structured, part-time opportunities for parents to serve within school communities. Parent interns support family engagement initiatives, school events, and campus operations while building workforce skills and advancing their own educational goals through enrollment in GED, high school completion, college, or trade programs.
Together, these initiatives develop parent leadership, strengthen school-family partnerships, and create sustainable pathways for families to lead and contribute to their school communities.
